Textbooks get attacked by both "sides" of education reform debates. Ravitch and others in the article claim disinformation due to political correctness. Others would claim that the true stories of, say, exploitation of Native Americans never makes it into the textbooks.
Despite no one seemingly liking textbooks, there the companies are, raking it in based on writing to CA and TX standards.
Hmm.
Right - the problem isn't the textbooks themselves - they could never be all things to all people. THe problem is using a single resource to support the whole curriculum. What does that teach our kids about learning - read one web page and you're done?
